I don't want to speak too soon, but there is something about this spring that seems almost normal. The snow is starting to melt, it is warming up and we have daylight till after 6:00 p.m.

As well, restrictions are being lifted, cautiously, and with the caveat that if things go south, we will have to be prepared to take a step back. Somehow though, I don't see that happening. Covid appears ready to become a part of life as opposed to controlling our lives. Only time will prove who was right and who was wrong.

In terms of business, many are starting to reopen, but for me it feels almost like starting over. Shortly after Covid took over, we sold our brick and mortar studio to a group that wanted to bring a dental clinic to our community. (Made sense, we both are in the smile business...). Since then it has been a matter of fits and starts, with the occasional outdoor portrait session and a few scheduled passport clinics hosted in the garage.

Now, however, it is time to get back to work.

I have completed some alterations to my indoor studio, have upgraded some equipment, did a whole lot of online learning and am ready to create something special, but that can't happen without you.

On March 21, most mask mandates in Ontario are being lifted and I am officially open for business. I may continue to wear a mask, but the studio is very well ventilated and the choice to wear or not to wear will be up to you. I will hope that common sense will prevail and if you are feeling ill, regardless of the source, that you will err on the side of safety and delay your visit. I am, after all, inviting you into my home. You will find me extremely accommodating in finding an alternative time that works for you. Risk assessment has been returned to each of us.

What will I be offering?, Well, I'm glad you asked! Passport type photos will be available by appointment. I am also looking forward to once again providing family or individual portraits, both in the studio and outdoors, as the weather improves and things dry out. I am currently planning special days for pet photos (a Dog Day afternoon, or Catterday, if you please) as well as special mini sessions for Easter and Mothers Day. Individual and group photography lessons are also coming later in the spring and summer.

If you are a small business owner who needs product photography or other content for your website, or a restaurant owner who needs high-res images of your amazingly delicious epicurean delights, I can help you either on a one-time or subscription basis.

I know that for many people, the past two years threw their wedding plans into complete disarray and I am available to help you get back on track. I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you and find out whether what I have to offer would be a good fit for you. I offer a photojournalistic style, which means that I am the photographer you may have a difficult time remembering, but who will provide you with images that are impossible to forget. The day is about you; I'm quite happy to blend into the background. Packages for most budgets are available.

Things continue to change, and I am working to keep up with them. In the near future I will be providing educational material on my You Tube channel, may embarrass myself on Tik Tok and will be a more regular user of my social media sites (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). If there is a topic you would like to learn more about, feel free to let me know and I'll put something together, because if it is a question for one, it is certainly a question for others.

For those who I have worked with in the past, I look forward to renewing the relationship. For everyone else, just remember that strangers are only friends we haven't met yet!

I'd love to work with you
